It has been decided to increase the price of gold in the country's market. The price of the best quality or 22 carat gold has been fixed at 2 lakh 44 thousand 128 taka per bhori (11.664 grams). This decision has been taken in view of the increase in the price of acid gold (pure gold) in the local market.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring on Tuesday. Later, the decision of the meeting was announced in a notification signed by the committee chairman Dr. Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen. The new price will be effective on Wednesday.
The price of silver has also increased along with the price of gold. The price of 22-carat silver per bhori (11.664 grams) is 6 thousand 590 taka. In addition, a bhori of 21-carat is 6 thousand 299 taka, a bhori of 18-carat is 5 thousand 424 taka and the price of silver per bhori of the traditional method is 4 thousand 82 taka.
The notification also said that 5 percent government-determined VAT and 6 percent minimum wage prescribed by the government will have to be added to the selling price of gold. However, the wage may vary depending on the design and quality of the jewelry.
