Country’s capital market posted overall gains on Tuesday, with key indices on both the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closing higher.
The benchmark DSE index, DSEX, touched a day’s high of 4,972.03 points and ended the session at 4,946.67, up 11 points on the day. The Shariah-based DSES index and the blue-chip DS30 remained largely unchanged. Market breadth was positive, with 202 companies’ shares rising, 100 declining, and 81 remaining unchanged. Trading activity on the DSE was strong, with a total of 132,005 trades executed, a volume of 126,117,200 shares and a turnover value of Tk 3,863,437,898.45.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange also saw gains, with its general index, CASPI, finishing the day up 33 points. At the port city bourse, share prices of 45 companies increased, 29 declined, and 22 remained unchanged, with turnover exceeding Tk 3.7 crore.
Overall, the market reflected moderate optimism, driven by investor interest in blue-chip and frequently traded shares, sustaining upward momentum across both exchanges.
