The stock market saw a modest decline in early trading on Monday, as both the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) posted losses amid mixed investor participation.
In the first half of trading, the DSE’s benchmark DSEX fell 5 points, the Shariah-based DSES index dropped 2 points, and the blue-chip DS30 index declined 3 points.
At the DSE, prices of 175 companies declined, 120 advanced, and 94 remained unchanged. Turnover in the first half surpassed Tk 150 crore.
The CSE also trended lower, with its CASPI index losing 13 points. At the port city bourse, prices of 42 companies fell, 28 rose, and six remained unchanged, while turnover exceeded Tk 4 crore in early trading.
