Japan has extended a grant of US$115,723, equivalent to Tk1.38 crore, to support two grassroots human security projects in Gaibandha and Mymensingh districts, aimed at ensuring safe transportation and improving access to education for children.
Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh SAIDA Shinichi signed the grant contracts under the Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGHSP) at the Embassy of Japan with the respective organisations on Tuesday.
SKS Foundation has been awarded US$51,981 for “The Project for the Procurement of School Buses in SKS School and College in Gaibandha District”. The foundation works on issues related to human rights, social development, gender discrimination, poverty alleviation and community development, according to the Embassy of Japan.
With the assistance of GGHSP funding, SKS Foundation will procure two school buses for primary students of SKS School and College in Gaibandha district, ensuring safe and reliable transportation for children living in remote areas and improving their access to education and learning opportunities.
