Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr Ahsan H Mansur stated that the country is currently not facing any dollar shortage. Consequently, imports can be carried out without restrictions.
He made the remarks on Saturday at the 4th Bangladesh Economic Conference held at a hotel in Dhaka.
The Governor noted that the dollar exchange rate has been made market-based to control inflation, and this approach has been successful.
“We can import as much as we want, and there are no problems in the banking sector regarding imports,” he said.
Dr. Mansur added that if anyone is unable to carry out imports, it is their own responsibility. He emphasized that it is the responsibility of the traders to bring the money after importing.
He further noted that there are currently no concerns regarding imports ahead of Ramadan, with the import of all products seeing an increase.
