Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Pranay Verma, joined Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury at a vibrant cultural programme on Monday evening, marking Chaitra Sankranti and the eve of the Bengali New Year.
The programme, organised by Itihas O Oitijjo Parishad at the Bangladesh National Museum, featured a rich display of traditional Bengali culture. Performances included nature- and season-inspired dances, Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Geeti, recitations, and traditional Jari music.
Extending his greetings to the people of Bangladesh on the occasion of Chaitra Sankranti and Pahela Baishakh, the High Commissioner described the festivities as an integral part of the deep-rooted shared cultural heritage of the two countries.
He noted that such celebrations continue to strengthen the cultural bonds and people-to-people connections between Bangladesh and India.
