Bashundhara Yoga Center celebrated the Bengali New Year 1433 with colourful festivities, including a procession, cultural performances and a traditional Panta meal, at Bashundhara Sports City on Tuesday.
The day-long programme began with a vibrant rally around 8:30 am, starting from Bank Asia intersection and ending at Bashundhara Eye Hospital.
Distinguished guests, including senior officials of Bashundhara Group and trainers, attended the inaugural event.
Following the rally, cultural performances and other festive activities began at around 9:30 am, drawing enthusiastic participation from members of the yoga society and local residents.
Several stalls showcasing traditional Bangla culture were set up by yoga society members. The stalls featured sarees, traditional ornaments, perfumes, pickles, pithas, sherbet and other local delicacies.
At around 10:30 am, participants enjoyed a traditional Panta meal with a variety of mashed side dishes (bhorta), adding a festive touch to the Pahela Baishakh celebration.
Md Monirul Islam, convenor of the yoga society, said the event reflected the spirit of unity and joy.
“It feels wonderful to be able to organise this event together with everyone from the yoga society. We hope to arrange such celebrations every year. Many thanks to Bashundhara Group for the support in making this event possible,” he said.
Senior Executive Director of Bashundhara Sports City, Major (Retd) Mohsinul Karim, said the organisers were delighted to bring people together at the start of the new year.
“We are truly happy to have organised such an event. Starting the year together with everyone is genuinely joyful. We hope the year goes well for all,” he said.
