Google DeepMind announced Wednesday that it is launching a new artificial intelligence research lab in Singapore to strengthen collaboration with governments, businesses, and academic institutions across Asia, reports Reuters.
The Alphabet-owned AI unit said it has doubled its Asia-based workforce over the past year and has already begun recruiting for roles at the new facility.
DeepMind Chief Operating Officer Lila Ibrahim said the lab is still determining its research agenda but is expected to focus on AI applications in education, healthcare, and scientific research.
Company executives added that Southeast Asian markets rank among the world’s fastest adopters of AI, making the region a key strategic hub for DeepMind’s continued expansion.
