Nexperia BV, the Dutch semiconductor maker, welcomed recent statements from the U.S. and Chinese governments removing restrictions on its chip shipments. However, the company declined to comment on its Chinese subsidiary’s announcement that it would accelerate efforts to become independent, reports Reuters.
In a statement released on Sunday, Nexperia emphasized that its primary focus is on ensuring the stability of its chip supply to customers. The Dutch government, in a separate update, confirmed that it is continuing discussions with Chinese officials and other international stakeholders to seek a "constructive way forward" for Nexperia.
The ongoing dispute over control of Nexperia has raised concerns globally, especially within the automotive industry, as the company is a major supplier of essential chips for vehicles. This conflict has contributed to the global semiconductor shortage, affecting automakers worldwide.
