Turkiye’s national satellite operator Türksat has officially launched high-speed Ka-Band satellite internet access across Syria, marking a significant milestone in regional digital development. The move follows a round of negotiations held this week in Damascus, as reported by Anadolu Agency/ DS.
The service, powered by the Turksat 5B satellite, brings fast and reliable internet to Syrian regions with limited or no communications infrastructure. Dozens of satellite terminals have been installed in underserved areas to enable sustainable digital public services, including online government platforms, emergency communication systems, and internet broadcasting.
The initiative represents Türkiye’s growing involvement in supporting Syria’s technological and administrative rehabilitation following years of conflict. Türksat’s Ka-Band service delivers uninterrupted connectivity in zones where fiber-optic or cable networks are unavailable.
In addition to internet access, Türksat has introduced comprehensive solutions for television and radio broadcasting, as well as secure government networks. These services are designed to accelerate Syria’s digital transformation and support local authorities in improving communication, governance, and public outreach.
"Many key locations across Syria have now been connected with satellite terminals to enable high-speed, continuous services," Türksat officials stated, adding that further installations are planned to broaden coverage.
This marks a strategic collaboration between the two nations, with Türksat’s technology enabling Syria to leapfrog traditional infrastructure barriers and reestablish essential digital services.
