A Bengaluru woman’s routine Uber ride turned into a surprising encounter when she discovered that her driver was actually a team lead from her own workplace. The unusual incident came to light after she shared the experience on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), where the post quickly went viral.
In the post, user @epicnephrin_e uploaded a screenshot of a WhatsApp conversation describing the moment of realization.
“Funny thing happened yk. I booked Uber and the guy who picked me up was a team lead at my office,” she wrote.
Curious about his motivation, she asked why he was driving. His response? He was just doing it for fun. “He said he does this for fun and to cut off some boredom,” she added.
The post struck a chord with netizens, quickly gaining traction and sparking a mix of amusement, admiration, and skepticism. Many praised the team lead’s unconventional way of combating boredom and viewed it as a reflection of Bengaluru’s unique and flexible tech culture.
One user commented,
“When I worked in the US, the CEO of a major MNC once told us he worked as a hotel server without any ego. Here in India, people are amazed. If this is real, he’ll go far.”
However, some users were less convinced.
“How can a team lead have so much free time?” asked one.
“Driving in Bangalore traffic for fun? Sounds suspicious,” another wrote.
