A consortium of major technology firms—G42, OpenAI, Oracle, NVIDIA, Cisco, and SoftBank Group—has unveiled Stargate UAE, a 1-gigawatt AI infrastructure cluster located at the newly launched UAE–US AI Campus in Abu Dhabi, according to a press release.
The initiative, led by G42 and operated by OpenAI and Oracle, will be housed within a 10-square-mile facility providing up to 5 gigawatts of data center capacity. Stargate UAE is designed to deliver national-scale computing power and ultra-low-latency AI inference capabilities. The first phase, a 200-megawatt compute cluster, is scheduled to go online in 2026.
The project represents the first international expansion under OpenAI’s "OpenAI for Countries" initiative. It will use NVIDIA’s next-gen Grace Blackwell GB300 systems and Cisco’s secure AI-optimized network architecture. SoftBank adds strategic backing and global connectivity to the collaboration.
The UAE–US AI Campus was inaugurated last week in the presence of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and U.S. President Donald J. Trump. It anchors the broader US–UAE AI Acceleration Partnership, which aims to deepen bilateral cooperation in artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure, emphasizing responsible AI innovation.
Peng Xiao, Group CEO of G42, called Stargate UAE “a bridge built on trust and ambition,” enabling global progress through responsible AI. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said the project will ensure “groundbreaking breakthroughs like personalized education and modern energy can be developed worldwide.” Oracle Chairman Larry Ellison noted that Stargate will connect “the UAE’s data to the world’s most advanced AI models,” enabling digital sovereignty.
NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang emphasized AI as “the most transformative force of our time,” while SoftBank’s Masayoshi Son praised the UAE for becoming the first nation outside the Americas to host this sovereign AI platform. Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins added that the company’s AI-enabled infrastructure will ensure “secure, intelligent, and energy-efficient” networks to power global AI progress.
Powered by clean energy—nuclear, solar, and natural gas—the AI Campus will also feature a science park to support research, innovation, and workforce development. The facility underscores the UAE’s ambition to become a global leader in AI while offering a model of international collaboration for technological advancement.
