Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar said Bijoy keyboard software installation is not mandatory for all android phones.
He made the remarks while responding to a question by the journalists after attending a discussion at the ongoing Deputy Commissioners (DCs) conference at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Wednesday.
“I will explain a world ‘mandatory’ used by the BTRC. It is misleading. You have the rights to install any software on your phone. So, there is no scope to use the word mandatory. Bijoy keyboard software installation in all android phones is mandatory for producers and importers. Users have the option and freedom to use it or not,” Mustafa said.
Meanwhile, BTRC has already letters to all local smartphone producers to install Bijoy keyboard software on all android phones. Otherwise, they will not get NOC from the regulatory body.
