Since three local Afghan cricketers were killed in a Pakistan airstrike on Friday night, Pakistan and Afghanistan have been locked in a military conflict. The Afghanistan Cricket Board canceled its tri-nation series with Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Zimbabwe has been added to the series, replacing the Afghan side.
The tri-nation series will be held in Lahore and Rawalpindi, Pakistan, from 17 to 29 November. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Saturday that it will keep the schedule unchanged and add Zimbabwe as a new team.
Earlier, the series was initiated to prepare for the 2026 T20 World Cup. The short-format global competition will be held in India and Sri Lanka in February.
The series will begin on 17 November at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium with a match between hosts Pakistan and Zimbabwe. Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe will clash at the same venue on 19 November. Pakistan and Sri Lanka will face off at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on 22 November. After each team plays twice, the top two teams will play the final on 29 November in Lahore. Pakistan is currently playing a two-Test series against South Africa at home, after which the two teams will play a series of three ODIs and a T20I each.
