Bangladesh clinched a convincing 74-run victory over the visiting West Indies in the first ODI of the three-match series at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Saturday, powered by a brilliant spell from Rishad Hossain.
Rishad’s outstanding performance earned him the player of the match award after he took six wickets to dismantle the Caribbean batting lineup.
Chasing a target of 207, West Indies were bowled out for 133 runs in 39 overs. Opener Brandon King was the top scorer with 44 runs off 60 balls. From Bangladesh’s side, Rishad Hossain claimed six wickets, while Mustafizur Rahman picked up two.
Earlier, batting first, Bangladesh were all out for 207 runs in 49.4 overs. Middle-order batter Towhid Hridoy top-scored with 51 runs off 90 balls, and Mahidul Islam Ankon contributed 46 off 76 deliveries.
For the visitors, Jayden Seales took three wickets, while Roston Chase and Justin Greaves claimed two each.
West Indies had earlier won the toss and opted to bowl first.
