Left-handed batter Imrul Kayes announced his retirement from Test cricket, and also from First-Class cricket, on Wednesday. He announced his retirement through a Facebook post, reports The Daily Sun.
Imrul expressed his gratitude, writing, "Ending my Test Career, Thank you, to all my fans for showing their love and support always!"
The 37-year-old made his Test debut against South Africa in 2008. He represented Bangladesh in 39 Tests scoring 1797 runs at an average of 24.28. He scored three centuries and four half-centuries during his time with 150 against Pakistan being his highest in this format.
His last appearance in this format came five years ago, against India in 2019.
Meanwhile, he played in 137 FC matches scoring 7930 runs at an average of 33.74 with 20 hundreds and 27 half-centuries while 204 being his highest.
The fifth round match of the ongoing National Cricket League (NCL) between Khulna and Dhaka at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium starting on 16 November will be his final FC match.
