Shams Suman, a well-known face of the country's acting world and National Film Award-winning actor has passed away (Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi raji'un).
He died at a private hospital at 6 pm on Tuesday after suffering a cardiac arrest.
The news of his death was confirmed by private television Channel I. His death cast a shadow of grief over the cultural arena. Many people rushed to his house at that time.
He was 61 years old at the time of his death. He is survived by two sons, a daughter and a wife.
Tomorrow, on Wednesday, at 10 am, after the funeral at Channel I premises, his body will be taken to Rajshahi. He will be buried in the family graveyard in Rajshahi in the evening.
Shams Suman was born in Rajshahi in 1965. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from Rajshahi University. The actor was a member of the recitation organization Swanan of Rajshahi University. His films include - Man Janena Moner Thikana (2016), Cox's Bazar Kakatua (2016), Chokh Dekha (2016), Priya Tumi Sukhi Hao (2014), Ayana Kahini (2013), Bidrohi Padma (2006), Joyatra (2004), Samna (2008), Hello Amit (2012) etc.
He won the National Film Award in 2008 for Best Supporting Actor in the film Swapnapuran. He was a famous radio artist since his childhood. This talented actor has left his mark on all three mediums of acting including film, television and stage.
