Bangladeshi film “Sand City” has been officially selected for the United Kingdom’s leading film event Glasgow Film Festival 2026.
Written, directed and edited by Mahde Hasan, the film explores parallel journeys shaped by survival, dreams and the fragility of the urban landscape. It is produced by Rubaiyat Hossain and Aadnan Ahmed, with co-production by Mahajabin Khan and Mahde Hasan.
Mostafa Monwar and Victoria Chakma play the lead roles.The supporting cast includes Javed Kaiser, Apel Pavel, Ahsan Aziz Sarkar, Satej Chowdhury, Mashrawi Muhammadi and Sajeeb A G.
Following its acclaimed world premiere at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival—where it won the Proxima Grand Prix, the top award in its section—Sand City has been travelling the global festival circuit. Its selection at Glasgow further reinforces Bangladesh’s growing presence in contemporary world cinema.
