Popular singer and composer Balam is set to release a brand-new album after nearly 13 years. Titled “Mawla,” the album will feature six songs across six different genres, with a strong emphasis on melody in every track.
Most of the music and arrangements-including the title track-have already been completed. Balam has personally composed and arranged all six songs, though he has chosen not to reveal the lyricists’ names just yet.
Speaking about the project, Balam said, “This album is planned because I’m taking singing seriously again. I have released a few singles over the past few years, but it’s difficult to meet fans’ expectations with every single track. An album allows an artiste to reach different types of listeners. ‘Mawla’ will have that diversity.”
He also noted that the album reflects the tastes and preferences of the new generation of listeners while staying true to his melodic roots.
All six songs from “Mawla” will be released in audio form on Eid-ul-Fitr, and one track will also receive a music video.
“Mawla” will be Balam’s fifth solo album. His earlier albums include, “Balam” (2007), “Balam 2” (2008), “Balam 3” (2010),“Bhuban” (2013).
Many songs from these albums became widely popular. Although he was away from releasing new solo music for a long time, Balam returned to the spotlight in 2023 with the hit song “O Priyotoma” from the film “Priyotama”. He also sang the title track for the movie “Rajkumar”.
