Bangladeshi Film “Saatao” (Memories of Gloomy Monsoons) has won the Best International Feature Film Award at the 14th Nepal Africa International Film Festival 2026 (NAIFF) held in Kathmandu from January 16 to 19.
The recognition comes three years after the film’s original release, marking a rare and meaningful achievement for Bangladeshi independent cinema. The festival featured a total of 43 films from 20 countries, including 20 Nepali productions and 23 international entries from 19 different nations.
Expressing his emotions after receiving the news, director Khandaker Sumon said, “Even three years after its release, ‘Saatao’ continues to win Best Film awards at international festivals. This is deeply emotional for me. This recognition proves that if a story speaks honestly about real people, time can never make it old.”
