Dhaka moviegoers will have two very different Hollywood options this Christmas, as ‘Anaconda’ and ‘The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants’ arrive in cinemas on December 25. Both films will be screened at Star Cineplex, alongside their international releases.
Just hearing the name ‘Anaconda’ is enough to send shivers down the spine. The massive, terrifying snake from the earlier films in the ‘Anaconda’ franchise still haunts audiences. Now, that fear is set to return in a new form for a new generation of viewers.
The new ‘Anaconda’ is slated for international release on December 25 and will hit screens in Bangladesh’s Star Cineplex on the same day.
This film is not a direct remake of the popular 1997 ‘Anaconda’, but rather a meta-reboot comedy-thriller.
Directed by Tom Gormican, the horror-comedy stars Paul Rudd, Jack Black and Steve Zahn, among others.
The story follows two characters, Doug and Griff, who travel deep into the Amazon jungle to remake their childhood favorite film Anaconda as a way to cope with their midlife crises. However, during filming, they come face to face with a real, gigantic anaconda, turning the situation into a terrifying nightmare.
Although the film has received mixed reactions at recent premieres, the on-screen chemistry between Jack Black and Paul Rudd has earned widespread praise from audiences.
Meanwhile, animation lovers have reason to celebrate as "The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants" brings cheerful holiday news.
In the film, SpongeBob embarks on a dangerous deep-sea adventure to find his lost pet snail, Gary. His journey becomes even more exciting and humorous when he encounters the ghost pirate, the Flying Dutchman.
Released internationally on December 19, the movie has already received a positive response. With an 87 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it proves to be an ideal family-friendly entertainer for the Christmas holidays.
