Although she does not act regularly, popular actress Sadia Islam Mou continues to appear in special productions marking significant occasions. This Victory Day, she will be seen in the drama “Daktar Bari”, directed by Arun Chowdhury.
Since 2012, Arun Chowdhury has been directing a Victory Day–themed drama each year based on stories by Faridur Reza Sagar. Continuing that tradition, Daktar Bari has been produced this year, with the screenplay written by Raju Alim from Sagar’s story. The drama will air on Channel i on 16 December at 7:50 pm.
“Daktar Bari” depicts how a village household supported freedom fighters during the Liberation War of 1971. In the story, Mallika—daughter of a village doctor—gives shelter to two freedom fighters without her father’s knowledge. When miscreants threaten the doctor and demand that the fighters be expelled, he becomes fearful. Mallika, however, persuades him to wait, leading to a series of unfolding events.
Mou plays the role of Mallika, while Naresh Bhuiyan appears as her father and Ahsan Habib Nasim as a freedom fighter. Speaking about the project, Mou said, “I haven’t done many works related to the Liberation War. I truly enjoyed performing in such a meaningful story and tried my best to portray the character.”
Director Arun Chowdhury added, “This is the story of a house during the Liberation War. We tried to recreate the atmosphere of that time, shooting in an old house in Nawabganj. Our efforts will feel successful if the audience appreciates it.”
