Actress Mehazabein Chowdhury and her younger brother Alisan Chowdhury surrendered to the court and were granted bail in a case filed against them for threatening and intimidating.
On Sunday evening, they surrendered and sought bail in the court of Dhaka Executive Magistrate Afroza Haque Tania, and the court granted it.
Mehazabein herself gave a detailed 'official statement' on Facebook regarding the case. There, she said that an unknown person had filed a case against her and her 19-year-old brother in March 2025. However, she has not received any information in the last nine months. The complainant did not even provide the police with his correct phone number, address or verified information.
Mehazabein wrote in her Facebook post that the complainant claimed that she had been doing business with him since 2016. But—
-There is no proven communication,
-No screenshots or messages,
-The complainant's identity is incomplete; NID has not been submitted,
-There is no proof of financial transactions, any bank transactions, checks, bKash or written agreements.
He also mentioned that there is no proof of the incident claimed to have happened on February 11. The complainant could not show CCTV footage of the restaurant or the surrounding streets, any witnesses. Mehjabeen said, “I have not received any notice in the last nine months. If I had, I would have taken legal action.”
Mehazabein said she took bail out of respect for the law. She believes a case filed without evidence is never true. The truth will come out very soon in court.
She requested everyone—please be compassionate, be humane, and do not start a media trial without knowing anyone.
She wrote, "After all the hard work and dedication I have shown to my work, my profession, and my audience over the past 15 years, I still have to explain all this today. This is the saddest thing."
