Bollywood singer Palak Muchhal has added yet another feather to her cap, entering the Guinness World Records for her extraordinary efforts in raising funds for children in need.
Through her humanitarian work, she has financially supported over 3,800 life-saving heart surgeries for underprivileged children. Her inspiring journey has also earned her a place in the Limca Book of Records.
Palak, along with her brother Palash Muchhal, runs the Palak-Palash Charitable Foundation, channeling a significant portion of their concert earnings to fund surgeries for children across India.
Born on March 30, 1992, in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, to middle-class parents Rajkumar and Amita Muchhal, Palak showed her singing talent at the age of four.
Since March 2000, Palak and her brother have performed stage shows in India and abroad to raise funds for children suffering from heart ailments Palak’s compassionate work has not gone unnoticed, earning recognition from the Government of India and multiple institutions.
Her philanthropic journey was sparked during childhood. A train journey exposed her to the plight of underprivileged children, shaping her lifelong mission to use her voice to save lives. Over the years, Palak has dedicated her concerts and even personal savings to fund critical surgeries, ensuring that financial constraints never come between children and life-saving care.
Palak’s generosity isn’t limited to heart surgeries. In 1999, she sang door-to-door for a week to raise funds for Kargil war soldiers, later contributing Rs 10 lakh to support Gujarat flood victims. In 2013 alone, she raised over Rs 2.5 crore, helping 572 children undergo heart operations, as reported by NDTV India. Palak emphasizes that even small contributions can make a difference, encouraging donations starting from as little as Rs 100.
In pursuit of her musical dreams, Palak moved to Mumbai in 2006 and made her Bollywood playback debut with the title track of the 2011 film Damadamm. She became a household name with hits like Meri Aashiqui, Kaun Tujhe, and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.
Standing by her side is her husband, composer Mithoon, who has been an unwavering partner in her philanthropic journey. He once remarked, “Even if there’s no show, no income – a child’s surgery will never stop.” His words perfectly encapsulate the couple’s shared resolve to keep the mission alive, regardless of financial hurdles.
