Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, one of the industry’s most recognisable faces, has stepped into the world of artificial intelligence by becoming the new voice of Meta AI across multiple countries.
Speaking at CNBC’s Global Leadership Summit, Deepika called the collaboration “an exciting new venture” and reflected on how her voice, once mocked in the early days of her career, is now being celebrated on a global platform.
She said, “I am someone whose voice was sort of mocked when I came into the industry and now suddenly I am the voice of Meta AI – strange! And my accent, but I continue to own it. I think that's probably how and why it happened.”
On her views about AI, Deepika added, “I am so excited about the possibilities. The only thing I believe it cannot replace is human emotion. That is the only area where AI will not be allowed or will not be able to match up. Barring human emotion and how an actor would emote, because you can't infuse soul into AI.”
Deepika made her acting debut with Om Shanti Om opposite Shah Rukh Khan in 2007, directed by Farah Khan. She was last seen in Singham Again, directed by Rohit Shetty, which featured an ensemble cast including Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, and Tiger Shroff.
Looking ahead, Deepika is set to star alongside Shah Rukh Khan in his upcoming film King and will also feature in director Atlee’s next project with Allu Arjun.
