Actress Jaya Ahsan's "Nakshi Kanthar Zamin" will be released in theaters at the end of the year. This film, based on the story of the Liberation War will be released on December 27th.
The film is directed by Akram Khan. Based on the story "Bidhobader Kotha" (Story of Widows) by writer Hasan Azizul Haque. The film portrays the events of the 1971 Liberation War.
Announcing the release of the film, the director said, "The film was ready. The plan was to release it in December, the month of victory. Every year, many Liberation War films are released in December. This year, none were released, so from a sense of responsibility, I am releasing my film at the end of the year."
The director said about the screenplay, "It is a story set against the backdrop of the Liberation War. It’s the story of two sisters, Rahela and Saleha. During the war, a division forms within their family. The war seems to take place within their own home. After the war, they realize that in their struggle for freedom, they have lost everything. Later, they express their life’s struggles through the design of Nakshi Kantha (embroidered fabric)."
In this, the characters of the two sisters are played by Jaya and Fariha Shams Sheuti, while the roles of the two brothers are portrayed by Iresh Zaker and Rawnak Hasan. Additionally, two important characters are played by brothers Dibya Joyti and Shommo Joyti.
Jaya announced the movie's release date by sharing the teaser on Facebook. Notably, this is her second film to be released in local cinemas in 2024, following the release of her previous film, "Peyarar Subash," in February.
"Nakshi Kanthar Zamin" previously won the Best Film award at the Bangalore International Film Festival in India. Additionally, the film was nominated for the ICFT-UNESCO Gandhi Medal at the 53rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
