The freshly-formed Bengali music band Bioscope officially made their first appearance with their first original track, "Chini Kom, Liquor Beshi". The song was released on Thursday night on their social media platform, quickly receiving widespread praise from listeners.
Band member Sahas Mostafiz informed that the idea for Bioscope took shape on December 20, 2023. After compiling a list of hundreds of potential names, the band spent nearly a month deciding on "Bioscope", reports UNB.
"Forming a band was an exciting idea, but getting it off the ground and sustaining it turned out to be much harder than we imagined," said Sahas.
He added, “To navigate this challenging journey, members such as Tarek Ahsan, Aranya Akn, Bappi Nabi, Abir Das, and Loban joined the band."
Another band member, Aranya, reflected on their early days, saying, "We spent countless hours sitting by the Dhanmondi Lake with guitars and pianos, singing together. From the beginning, we set a clear goal—our band would focus on original music, and we immediately began working on new compositions."
Aranya further explained, "As we thought about the direction we wanted to take, we decided to blend folk music with contemporary storytelling. We aim to showcase the 'bioscope' of life around us, drawing inspiration from the stories we see in everyday urban life."
The band emphasizes that their primary goal is to capture the essence of city life through music, presenting everyday stories in a folk-inspired format. Members also mentioned that they are working on more original tracks, with two upcoming songs, ‘Helay Felay’ and ‘BCS’, expected to be released soon on their online platform.
Bioscope is set to continue pushing the boundaries of contemporary Bengali music, with their unique fusion of traditional and modern themes.
