Cultural Affairs Advisor Mostafa Sarwar Farooki said the statement about the name of the 'Mangal Shobhajatra' has been misrepresented.
“The name of the Mangal Shobhajatra is not being changed as there was no discussion on this,” he said.
He said this after a meeting on New Year at the Senate Building of Dhaka University on Monday.
Mostafa Sarwar Farooki said, “This year's celebration will be two days long. Both Chaitra Sankranti and New Year will be organized nationally, which includes the procession. The Faculty of Fine Arts of Dhaka University has already started working on the procession.”
He said that people of different ethnic groups and teachers and students of other institutions will join this event. Due to everyone's participation, this year's celebration will be bigger and more colorful than the previous ones.
Farooki also said this is the first New Year after fascism ends. The slogan has been decided with an eye on the end of fascism - 'Unity of New Year, End of Fascism.'
