The names announced for Bangla Academy Literary Award has been suspended, said Cultural Affairs Advisor Mostofa Sarwar Farooki.
He said this in a post on his verified Facebook page on Saturday night.
In the post, the Cultural Affairs Advisor wrote, “The list of names announced for Bangla Academy Award has been suspended. It is also necessary to say that our first task is to quickly review the strange policies that allow such strange and quota-based awards. In addition, we need to see how Bangla Academy will be run, what policies will be followed. We will now move towards radical reform of the academy. The country is going to be reformed; why not reform Bangla Academy?”
Earlier, the names of the awardees were announced in a notification signed by Bangla Academy director general Professor Mohammad Azam last Thursday.
