Law Adviser Asif Nazrul has assured that the attack on indigenous students protesting in front of the NCTB building will be thoroughly investigated.
On Wednesday night (January 15), he shared several pictures of the incident on his verified Facebook account, and wrote, "This incident will definitely be investigated. Two individuals have already been arrested."
Earlier that day, a group called "Students for Sovereignty" surrounded the NCTB building, demanding five key actions, including the punishment of those responsible for adding the word "indigenous" and fictional graffiti that contradicts the spirit of the July Revolution advocating for a unified India. At the same time, another group of indigenous people, under the banner of "Aggrieved Indigenous Student-Masses," gathered outside the NCTB, calling for the reinstatement of the graffiti in textbooks.
A clash broke out between the two sides during the protest, leaving several people, including journalists and women, injured.
