The government has ordered the withdrawal of five officials serving in the press wings of Bangladesh embassies and high commissions in five countries. A notification issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting instructed these officials to return to Bangladesh within the next 15 working days for reassignment to new postings.
The officials include Md. Tayab Ali, Counselor (Press) at the Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad, Pakistan; Sufi Abdullahil Maruf, First Secretary (Press) at the Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Md. Arifur Rahman, First Secretary (Press) at the Consulate General Office of Bangladesh in Dubai, United Arab Emirates; Asaduzzaman Khan, Second Secretary (Press) at the Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; and Md. Imranul Hasan, Second Secretary (Press) at the Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo, Japan.
According to the notification, the officials currently assigned to press wings under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting have been directed to vacate their posts and workplaces abroad. Upon their return, they will be reassigned to new roles within the ministry.
