Nurul Haque Nur, the president of Gano Odhikar Parishad and former vice-president (VP) of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU), has demanded the arrest of the attackers on Faruq Hasan, the spokesperson of the People's Rights Council, within 24 hours.
He made this demand at a protest rally held on Sunday, to protest the attack on Faruq Hasan at the Central Shaheed Minar and demand the arrest of the attackers. After the protest, a procession led by him went to Shahbagh Police Station.
At the rally, Nur said, “If the attackers are not arrested within the next 24 hours, our leaders and activists will take action accordingly.”
Along with making the same demand, the party's general secretary Rashed Khan also demanded that the Awami League be banned.
Abdur Rahman, the central president of the Shromik Odhikar Parishad, said if the attackers are not arrested, they will be trialed by the public.
Faruq Hasan, the vice-president of the People's Rights Council, and several others were attacked at a civic rally of the National Revolutionary Council demanding the abolition of fascism and a new constitution. The incident took place at the Central Shaheed Minar in the capital on Saturday afternoon.
