Addressing the interim government's chief advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, BNP Chairperson's advisor Zainul Abedin Faruque said, “Hold elections soon to transfer power to people's representatives.”
He said this at a program of distributing winter clothes among the homeless in front of the National Press Club on Sunday. The program was organized by the Ziaur Rahman Social Welfare Forum.
Zainul Abedin Faruque said, “Give a roadmap, and announce the election date specifically. You have to take care that you don't have to take to the streets to protest against anyone again as you are a respected, trusted person to everyone. We are proud of you.”
He said, “You (Dr. Yunus) are a respected person both locally and internationally. You are the pride of the country; however the previous government insulted you. Many attempts have been made to tarnish your reputation. Currently, your associates are saying such things that also tarnish your reputation. So, I request that none of them say anything that will create confusion.”
Jainul Abedin further said, “The associates of Awami League have destroyed many important assets by setting fire to the secretariat where Sheikh Hasina’s various corruption files were kept. They have been exposed. We hope that the government will quickly find those involved in the incident and reveal their names. Bring them to justice. Besides, there are still Sheikh Hasina’s people in various places. Identify them and take action against them.”
General Secretary Shah Alam, Joint General Secretary Sohel Rana and others of the organization were also present at the event, while it was chaired by the president Manjur Rahman Bhuiyan.
