Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam said the police have no ‘magic’ to reduce the crimes.
“We are taking actions to reduce crimes. All police supers including Dhaka have been instructed in this regard.”
He made the remarks while talking to reporters at the annual general meeting of the Retired Police Officers' Welfare Association in the capital's Rajarbagh Police Lines on Saturday.
The IGP said, “The police have no magic to stop thefts, muggings, and killings across the country. We are trying to stop these crimes. We want cooperation from the students. All unitedly have to resist criminals.”
He also mentioned that the police reformation is being continued so that no such incident as July-August can be repeated.
While speaking about the fire incident at the secretariat, Baharul Alam said the investigation is underway. The probe committee will provide details.
