The Anti-Discrimination Students' Movement clearly rejected the statement of the Election Reform Commission chief Badiul Alam as he said there's no barrier for Awami League to participate in the elections.
They said, “Awami League is a group responsible for several genocides in Bangladesh. In addition, the Awami League has been involved in various anti-human rights activities including disappearances, murders, extrajudicial killings for the past 16 years. The infamous Awami League has claimed the lives of nearly two thousand martyrs and the mutilation of more than thirty thousand people in the latest July massacre. The Awami League has illegally hijacked the last three elections. Giving the party that has tarnished the electoral system of Bangladesh the opportunity to participate in the elections is against the will of the people.”
The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement stands against the participation of the Awami League in any political activity.
If Awami League participates in any political activity, including elections, it will devalue the blood of the martyrs of the July mass uprising,” the students organization said.
The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement has called on the Election Reform Commission chief, Badiul Alam Majumder, to withdraw his speech and take appropriate measures to prevent the Awami League from participating in the elections.
