BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said that India has suddenly turned against Bangladesh after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government.
He said, "We do not want to do business with those who have such a hegemonic mentality. If India does not change its behavior, it will be a question of whether the people of Bangladesh will do business with them in the future."
He said this at a program regarding sale of domestic products in the capital's Gulshan on Friday.
Rizvi said, "India does not like the government that the people of Bangladesh want. They think that if they stop exporting onions, garlic and ginger, the people of Bangladesh will die of hunger. They think that our country will not be able to produce these products."
The BNP leader also said, "They (India) may have thought that if they stop exporting products, the people of Bangladesh will not be able to import from any other country. Bangladeshi people go to India for treatment purpose spending dollars. There has been a lot of remorse in hotels in Kolkata now. People don't even want to go to the country of those who harbor so much hatred.”
Criticizing the Indian media, he said, “Republic Bangla TV is claiming that various areas of Bangladesh are part of India. If they make this claim, the people of Bangladesh will also claim Bihar, Orissa as their own. India wants to establish dominance in Bangladesh by raising the rumor of communalism. That is why they (India) have no neighbors with them.”
