Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, Shafiqul Alam, has called for serious journalism defying fear of tagging. Stating that no one is above criticism, he told reporters, “If you can, write about Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus.'
He said this at the first part of the Investigative Journalism Conference and Award Ceremony held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in Agargaon in the capital on Thursday afternoon.
Shafiqul Alam said, 'We want all of you to write about militancy as there is radicalism in our society. We want you to do serious journalism. Tell us who is involved here. If you stop it for fear of tagging, how will we know the real fact. In many cases, we cannot rely on the police. Your journalism provides us with right information. If you draw a conclusion in advance that you cannot report on that matter, that is a terrible thing. "We don't want this."
The first session was moderated by TIB Director Mohammad Touhidul Islam. Discussions were held by investigative journalist and trainer Mohd. Badruddoza, investigative journalist and trainer Qubratul-Ain-Tahmina, Gramer Kagoj (Jessore) Editor Mobinul Islam Mobin, and USA (Washington) Press Minister Golam Mortoza.
