A Dhaka court on Saturday sent former ministers -- Rashed Khan Menon, Hasanul Haq Inu, and Zunaid Ahmed Palak to jail in a case filed over the killing of youth Emon Hossain Gazi in the capital’s Jatrabari area during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Awlad Hossain Muhammad Jonaid passed the order while the trio was produced before the court upon completion of seven-day remand each in the same case.
Jatrabari Police Station Sub-Inspector Md Mahabul Islam, also the investigating officer of the case, pleaded to keep the accused behind bars for the sake of the proper investigation.
After the hearing, the court ordered the police to send them to prison.
Earlier on November 2, the three accused were placed on a seven-day remand in the case.
According to the case statement, Emon was shot dead on Chittagong Road during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement on August 5.
Later, victim’s brother, Anwar Hossain, registered a case with Jatrabari Police Station on August 28, mentioning the names of 85 persons.
