Three days after discharging a total of 252 trainee sub-inspectors (SIs) for breaching discipline, the authorities on Friday served show-cause notice to 59 trainee SIs at Bangladesh Police Academy in Sardah of Rajshahi on the same ground.
The show-cause notice, served in two phases, asked the SIs to respond within the next three working days.
The show-case notices issued on Monday and Friday allege that a certain group of SIs of the 40th cadet SI 2023 batch has created disruption during their training session over sitting arrangement.
Earlier, on October 21, a total of 10 SIs were issued show-cause notices, while 49 were show-caused on 25 October on disciplinary grounds, according to the notice signed by Tarek Bin Rashid, superintendent of police (Admin and Logistics) on behalf of the Police Academy Principal.
While talking to reporters, Police Academy Principal (Additional IGP) Masudur Rahman Bhuiyan said that he is not interested to make any comment in this regard.
He also requested that reporters contact the Public Relations Department of the Police Headquarters if needed.
Home Ministry Adviser Lt Gen Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd) on 22 October said that a total of 252 trainee SIs were relieved from their posts for breaching the discipline.
Recently, BNP at a press briefing has urged the government to cancel the appointment of 803 SIs and 67 assistant superintendents of police who were recruited just before the collapse of Awami League government.
However, Home Advisor Lt Gen Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Thursday told reporters that there was no political intention behind the dismissal of the SIs.
