Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has filed a plea seeking a review of the Supreme Court judgment that declared illegal the 13th amendment to the Constitution that had introduced the caretaker government (CG) system.
Jamaat counsel Advocate Mohammad Shisier Manir said Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar filed the plea with the apex court.
Earlier on 16 October, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir filed a plea to review the Supreme Court judgment on 10 grounds.
Five eminent citizens including Sujan Secretary Badiul Alam Majumder on 27 August filed the identical plea.
The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court is scheduled to hear the two review pleas on Thursday.
Earlier on 10 May 2011, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court declared illegal the 13th amendment to the Constitution that introduced the caretaker government system.
