The Appellate Division granted leave to appeal of Dr Muhammad Yunus as he asked for the validity of the complaint filed according to the Prevention of Money Laundering Act and the cancellation of the case. At the same time, November 19 has been fixed for date of hearing the appeal.
The Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed passed this order on Monday.
Lawyer Barrister Abdullah Al Mamun was on behalf of application in the court, while attorney general Md. Asaduzzaman was present for the state. Advocate AKM Fazlul Haque appeared on behalf of Anti-corruption Commission (ACC).
ACC deputy Director Gulshan Anwar filed the case on May 30 last year as the main plaintiff. Judge Syed Arafat Hossain of the Special Judge Court-4 of Dhaka lodged the complaint in the name of 14 people including Dr Yunus On June 12 last year.
In this situation, Dr Yunus along with seven other people applied to the High Court for the cancellation of the proceedings regarding the validity of the complaint. The hearing on this application ended on July 11. Later, on July 24, the High Court bench of Justice Md. Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Kazi Ebadat Hossain dismissed the ordered made leave to appeal against it.
