Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has warned that strict action will be taken against those who illegally stockpile essential commodities ahead of Ramadan.
“The Prime Minister has ordered action against those who create an artificial crisis by illegally stockpiling goods…security forces are working accordingly,” he said in Dhaka on Saturday.
As the holy month of Ramadan approaches fast, consumers in Bangladesh find themselves grappling with soaring prices of essential commodities, particularly sugar and chickpeas.
The sugar market, in particular, has witnessed a steep surge, with wholesale traders citing a notable spike in prices within a short span.
