Home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said, “As BNP is not present in national assembly, they won’t be regarded as opposition party. Many leaders and activists of this party were arrested over attack on chief justice’s house and other violence on October 28. Many of them were released following the legal procedures. There’s no connection between their release and national elections.” ‘
He said this on Thursday after the courtesy visit with Saudi Arabian ambassador Issa Bin Youssef Al-Dahilan in the ministry.
He said, "The Saudi government is interested in entering a prisoner return agreement with Bangladesh. Bangladesh also has no objection in this regard. After receiving the proposal, the government will consider the matter. If there is an agreement, it will be easy to send the criminals back to their countries.”
He also said, "If any Bangladeshi commits a crime in that country, they will return them and if someone from that country commits a crime in our country, we will return them."
