BNP Vice Chairman and former Home Minister Air Vice Marshal (retd) Altaf Hossain Chowdhury has been shown arrested.
The court of Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sultan Sohag Uddin showed Altaf Hossain Chowdhury arrested after hearing three separate cases filed against him with the Ramna Model Police Station.
Altaf was shown to be present at the hearing virtually from jail as he was sick.
On February 7, the former minister was arrested, and subsequently, a bail petition was filed on his behalf.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Rezaul Karim Chowdhury fixed the date for the hearing on 11 February.
Four cases were filed against him with the Ramna Model Police Station over the BNP rally on 28 October, 2023. He was arrested by RAB in the Tongi area of Gazipur on 5 November.
On the same day, he was produced before the court in connection with a case of vandalism and sabotage in front of the chief justice's residence.
Abu Ansar, investigation officer of the case and sub-inspector of Ramna Model Police Station, requested the court keep him in jail until the investigation of the case is completed. Following this, the court ordered his detention.
Earlier on November 29 last year, the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court dismissed his bail plea in the case.
He is currently seeking bail from the High Court.
