Quoting local people, Abdus Salek, officer-in-charge of Kulaura Police Station, said the suspected militants hired five CNG-run auto-rickshaws and were trying to flee the Askarabad playground around 11 am.
Suspecting their movement, the drivers of the CNG-run auto-rickshaws drove them to the Karmadha Union Parishad.
On information, police rushed to the spot and arrested them. Sohel Tanjim, a physician of a private hospital, was among the arrestees.
Rabiullah, a CNG driver, said a physically challenged man was among the group. “Three passengers, who boarded my vehicle, said they arrived here for picnic, and they will now go to Moulvibazar.”
