Foreign Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen on Saturday said that the next general election will be held according to the country's Constitution, reports BSS.
Momen made this comment while talking to the journalists after awarding certificates to the students of RTM Al Kabir Technical University at Shahi Eidgah in Sylhet city.
He said, "The government has done everything necessary for fair elections in the country. A strong Election Commission has been constituted for this purpose," he said.
"Bangladesh will not make any new agreement with any country in haste before the elections...Bangladesh is an independent state. We adhere to a balanced foreign policy," he added.
About the upcoming BRICS conference, Momen said the organizers have invited Bangladesh. "It seems that the prime minister will go there," he added.
He said even if BRICS does not include new countries this year, there will be meetings with the heads of state of many countries, and there will be an opportunity to discuss various issues there.
