The death toll in Munsiganj trawler sinking rises to 8 while some others are missing as a picnic trawler capsized after colliding with a bulkhead in Louhajanj upazila of Munsiganj district, reports UNB.
There were 46 people onboard the trawler.
The incident happened around 8:00 pm on Saturday in the Khidirpara union (tributary of Padma) of the upazila, confirmed Shahjahan Sikder, deputy assistant director (media cell) of Fire Servie and Civil Defence Headquarters.
Bodies of two men, four women, two children have benn recovered so far, he said.
A team from the Bangladesh Coast Gurad, a unit of Louhajanj Fire Station and Dhaka's diving unit of the fire service are working to rescue the rest of the missing passengers.
