A trawler with more than 50 passengers capsized in the Padma River in Lauhaganj of Munshiganj Saturday night.
Five bodies were recovered while several passengers believed be gone missing, said Rafi Al Faruk, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence.
He said the trawler sank following collision with a sand-laden bulkhead around 8:00 pm.
Most of the passengers could swim ashore, he said.
Lauhaganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Khandaker Inam Hossain said bodies of four to five passengers were recovered while police and firefighters were carrying out a rescue operation, reports Daily Sun.
