Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation recovered 56 gold bars weighing 6.5kg from a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines coming from Dubai of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Chattogram this morning.
The gold bars were recovered at 8:30am on Saturday from under a seat of the flight landed at Shah Amanat International Airport in the port city.
The estimated value of the recovered gold bars is Tk 4.5 crore.
Additional Director General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate Bashir Ahmed stated that based on specific information, these gold bars were found wrapped in black tape inside a seat of the business class of the aircraft.
There was no passenger in that seat. As a result, no one was arrested in this connection. Legal action is underway in this incident.
