62 gold bars seized in Jashore, 2 held

Police detained two smugglers with 62 gold bars weighing 7.025 kg from the Gorpara border area of Sharsha upazila in Jashore on Monday afternoon.

The detainees are Naeem Hossain and Azharul Islam hailed from the same upazila.

Navaron Circle Additional SP Jewel Imran said acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid at the Amtala area under the Gorpara village and seized the gold bars from the possession of the detainees.

The estimated value of the seized gold bars is around Tk 5.33 crore, he added.
